All About Effort

View on Vocaroo >> My name is Devin Brantley. I believe in putting in effort. I have big dreams and I want to do many great things in my life. Without putting enough effort in reaching my goals I will never turn them into reality. I firmly believe that hard work is the key to achieving my goals and realizing my dreams. Whether it's trying to get good grades, becoming better at sports, or working out. I know how important putting effort in is because I know what happens when you don't. Last year I wanted to play basketball for the varsity team, but I didn't put enough effort in my craft to get better. I got left in the dust because I stayed the same while everyone else got better. that is how important effort is to me. In school I've learned that putting in effort gets me better grades and better chances to get into a good college. Nothing ever comes easy in life, so you have to put in effort in everything you do. If you don't you will get left behind like I ...

AR book review

Devin Brantley  Mr. Davidson  Contemporary Literature, Period 2 20 October 2023 AR Book Review Garth Stein's The Art of Racing in the Rain is a novel written from the unique perspective of a dog named Enzo. Enzo is a very wise dog and has the conscience of a human. Enzo belongs to Denny who is a talented race car driver who is struggling to make ends meet. Denny is married to a woman by the name of Eve and they have a daughter named Zoe. In the beginning of the story the family is happy, they move out of their apartment into a bigger house, Denny gets more opportunities to race. But that happiness spirals down to a pit of sadness when Eve gets sick. She is given 8 months to live because she has brain cancer and because she didn’t want to see a doctor, the cancer already caused too much damage. As her health gets worse the family’s lives and bonds get worse. Even after Eve's death the family still have many struggles ahead of them.  Through Enzo’s eyes, we as the ...

Fantasy/ Science Fiction

I would take fantasy over science fiction 10 times out of 10 every time. Fantasy can be anything and is only limited by your imagination. Fantasy isn’t confined by any laws or reality. There are no rules and no explanations. That’s why I love it so much. When reading fantasy, the more imaginative you are the better the reading experience is. I feel as though fantasy is an add on to science fiction. Like Jurassic Park, why stop with cloning dinosaurs. With fantasy they could talk, have robotic arms, anything. With fantasy the sky is the limit, but even the sky can be broken through with the power of Fantasy.      If I could go anywhere one of my first options would be Moria, the greatest dwarven kingdom and many other places in the Lords of the rings story. I would like to go to Moria because when they were in their prime they were making the most legendary weapons and armors because they had the material called Mithril. Which was a beautiful diamond li...

LINK:  https://www.lovetoknow.com/parenting/teens/should-i-go-prom   I picked this topic because Prom is a very popular tradition among high schools. I personally would like to go to prom because it's a one in the life time occasion.      T he difficulty of researching only one side of the argument was pretty easy. topics like prom are like the sides of a coin. You either want to go or not. Your decision won't be influenced by any serious thoughts because it's only prom.  I was definitely able to stay focus on my side of the argument.       My infographic looks the way it does because I wanted something simple. Nothing to flashy because I wanted to get a clear message across. I also didn't put a lot of thought into the design of my infographic. All I did was select a template and put information on it along with a few pictures.       I think my infographic will be effective in convincing people to ...

Narrators

One of my favorite narrators are Percy Jackson from Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson. Percy is one of the few choices I have because I couldn’t recall any other narrators. But from what I remember, Percy is a brave young man and was always ready. Even though he is a demigod and had superpowers, he is still a teenager like me. Which makes him relatable, because he still faces the problems any normal teenager would face. The novel is about Percy Jackson who is the son of the Greek god Poseidon finding the stolen Lightning bolt of Zeus. He is accused of stealing of stealing it so he must find it to clear his name and stop a war from happening. With his two friends he travels all around the country and more fighting monsters and clearing puzzles to prevent catastrophe. This narration is my favorite because Percy Jackson was one of my favorite novels and one of the only ones I read free willingly. The stories of Percy Jackson are like no other and that is what peaked my interest. Hopefully...
